Student Activities Council (SAC) is one of Penn's six branches of undergraduate student government. SAC exists to fund, supervise and promote cooperation between student run organizations. SAC also represents the interests of student activities to the Undergraduate Assembly and to the University administration.
In addition to funding our member groups, SAC also provides the following resources for all student groups on campus: Campus Events in the Daily Pennsylvanian, banner poles and tables available for rent in the Office of Student Life, Campus Express activities mailing, tables at the NSO activities fair.
SAC General Body is made up of one representative from each member group, for the purpose of voting on budget and policy recommendations from the Executive Committee. The General Body's membership is currently about 200 groups. The Executive Committee oversees the General Body and is made up of eight elected members from within the General Body plus the UA Treasurer. SAC Exec meets weekly with groups to discuss recognition and contingency funding requests. SAC History: Student Activities Council was founded in 1968. Since its inception, SAC has worked to promote student involvement in campus events. In fact, the former SAC Steering Committee helped found the Undergraduate Assembly in 1972, and funded the Social Planning and Events Committee (SPEC) until it became separately funded in 1990. The structure of SAC was reformed in 1996 with the SAC Constitution, which merged the former Finance Committee and Steering Committee into one Executive Committee.
